 Robin Johnstone
Robin holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Massey University and a Masters Degree in Applied Social Science and Social Policy from Oxford University in England
She specialised further by completing the Post Qualifying Award in Mental Health (Oxford). She has undertaken formal training in Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and has a strong interest in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
Robin has worked with children and families in a variety of therapy settings since 1989, firstly in Oxford, England and since 1998, in Auckland, New Zealand.
Her experience includes working with survivors of trauma and abuse and their families, working therapeutically with refugees, general child and adolescent mental health in both inpatient and outpatient settings, first episode psychosis clients and their families, and young people with mood, anxiety or self harm difficulties.
In addition to her work at Starfish Clinic, Robin currently holds a senior position in a community mental health service, provides clinical supervision to mental health staff, and occasionally undertakes university teaching in child and adolescent mental health.
Robin has a strong commitment to working systemically and fitting her approach to the needs of her clients. She values optimism, hope and collaboration in her work.
