Monica Davids graduated from the University of Zimbabwe, where on registration in 1986, she was appointed as an Educational Psychologist. She began her career with Schools Psychological Services (Zimbabwe), where she worked with children with intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities (dyslexia, dyscalcula, dyspraxia, dysgraphia) and behavioural problems. This involved diagnosis and assessment using psychometric tests as well as individual education and behaviour modification programmes.

Since then, Monica’s educational interests and experience have expanded to include many of the developmental childhood disorders including Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Aspergers and Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) as well as Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Conduct Disorder.

Monica emigrated to New Zealand in 2002 and she is currently employed by Waitemata District Health Board, Marinoto West.

At Starfish Clinic, Monica offers comprehensive psychological testing of cognitive ability and academic functioning to assist in developing appropriate remedial and educational plans. She also offers psychoeducation and behaviour modification training/support to teachers and parents of children with Learning Disabilities, ADHD and/or ODD. Monica hopes to be able to offer in the future particular children's training/counselling groups around the issues of study skills, social skills, anger management and self-esteem.
