- Attended Birkenhead School, Wirral.
- 1980 - 86; Attended Leeds Medical School and qualified as a medical practitioner.
- 1986 - 91; Trained as a General Practitioner in Yorkshire, UK and Rotorua, New Zealand gaining experience in general medicine, obstetrics, paediatrics, infectious diseases, accident and emergency and psychiatry. Achieved Certificate of Joint Committee of Vocational Training in General Practice (JCVTGP) and has practiced as a Family Doctor in Yorkshire, UK..
- 1991 - 1995; Trained in Leeds University Teaching Hospital in general psychiatry including experience in drug and alcohol, liaison, elderly psychiatry, community day hospital and in Analytic Group Psychotherapy. Psychotherapeutic experience and training included Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Family Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Group Psychotherapy.
- 1994; Kevin gained Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- 1994 - 95; Tutor in Psychiatry in the Professorial Unit of Psychiatry to Professor Andrew Sims, St James's University teaching Hospital, Leeds.
- 1995; Completed Master of Medical Science in Psychiatry (M.Med.Sc) Degree at Leeds University, supervised by Professor Allan House and Professor Tony Dowell.
- 1995 - 1998; Specialist training in child and adolescent psychiatristy at the Academic Unit of Child Mental Health, Leeds University, to Professor David Cottrell.
- 1997 - 98. Research Senior Registrar to Professor David Cottrell, Academic Unit Child Mental Health, Leeds University.
- Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Honorary Senior Lecturer, Child and Family Unit, St James' University Teaching Hospital in Leeds, UK.
- 2000; Emigrated to NZ in to take up post of Clinical Director of Child, Adolescent Mental Health, Family Therapy, Maternal Mental Health and Early Intervention Services at Waitemata Health.
